Giant Hypermarket, off Jalan Apas, was opened on 23 October 2008.
The opening ceremony was officiated by Tawau Municipal Council (TMC) President

108th and 15th in Sabah.
Located along Jalan Chong Thien Vun, off Jalan Apas, Giant Tawau is a popular
shopping destination for the residents of Tawau and neighboring residential
areas of Taman BDC, Taman Bintang, Taman Berjaya, Perdana Square, and Taman
Megah Jaya.
The hypermarket occupies about 69,143 sq feet of the complex, which has gross
built-up of area 133,163 sq ft. In addition there are 27 units of shop lots and
eight push carts for rent. So far 20 per cent of the nettable area has been
taken up the Kentucky Fried Chicken.
There are 360 parking bays which are free for the use of customers, as well as
ample parking for people with disabilities. Inside the complex are also a
children's play centre, mixed-food court, and automated teller machines of six
banks.
