Pesta Kebudayaan Tawau 2011 featured cultural variance of 26 ethnics in Sabah
and organized by Majlis Perbandaran Tawau and Lembaga Kebudayaan Sabah.
Like the LEPA LEPA festival in Semporna, Tawau Cultural Festival is now accepted
as part of the Sabah Tourism calendar and in the process of becoming an annual
event in Sabah. Tawau, being the cultural melting pot of Malaysia, is best
location in Malaysia to show off the 1Malaysia concept.
All local people want to see the uniqueness of this festival organized by local
government departments, NGOs and Tawau cultural associations.
Tawau Cultural Festival for the first time involves participation from 2 foreign
countries - Indonesia and Brunei. (Philippines and Singapore were also invited).
Tawau Cultural Festival witness the parade 26 ethnic groups from Town Padang to
Tawau Municipal Square.
There are cultural performances, artist presentations and ended with fireworks
and flame from the ships docked at port Tawau.
Four roads and a roundabout here will be closed, starting from 5pm today
(Friday) until tomorrow (Saturday), for the Tawau Cultural Festival involving
Bimp-Eaga nations.
1) Jalan Dunlop,
2) Jalan Mahkamah,
3) Jalan Persatuan
4) part of Jalan St Patrick,
5) Nusantara roundabout until Tanjung Tawau market.
The event involving 2,000 participants.
400 police personnel on duty to ensure peace and order throughout the event.
Other then police, other personnel from the General Operations Force, Marine
Operations Force, Rela and the Department of Civil Defense (JPAM) also assisting
to ensure security and safety.

Tawau Cultural Festival 2011
Tawau came alive with Tawau Cultural Festival staged on 14th to 15th January
2011. 20 communities showcased their culture in the Festival featuring
telematches, lego competition, cultural exhibition, food camp.
During the parade from the town padang to the MPT compound, each of the 20
ethnic groups comprising 300 people dressed in their respective traditional
costumes.
The festival also featured popular local artistes.
In the evening of 14th January was a full-dress rehearsal parade from town
padang to MPT ground.
Telematch at the town padang on the morning of January 15.
January 15 evening is the event proper which begin with the procession or
parade, followed by a cultural show and officiating ceremony by the Chief
Minister.
The event capped by a fireworks display.
Among the ethnic groups taking part are Tidong, Chinese, Murut, Penan, Lundayeh,
Indonesia, Bajau, Bugis, India, Jawa, Toraja, Badan Kesenian Johor, Buton, Iban,
Cocos, Suluk, Pakistan, Bolongan, Timor, Kadazan, Arab and Bisaya.
"The tremendous response and support received for the festival shows that we in
Sabah do not allows the difference in ethnicity, race, religion or culture to
hamper unity, harmony and relationship. This is a recognition and an example of
the 1Malaysia concept introduced by
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to help the country prosper in areas
of unity,"

Salam... Hari ni aku bangun awal sikit. Kalau ikot plan mau tido sampai tengah
hari. Tapi malas la.. Haha.. Tidor pun da jadi boring. Semalam aku gi Festival
Kebudayaaan Tawau. Huiih.. Ramai gila orang tawau yang turun menjayakannya. Dan
sebalik impak maksima dari itu. Jalan jammed! Line Celcom cam hareem. Aku gerak
sikit punya awal dari rumah. Bajet dapat la sampai on time. Cari parking mau
satu jam. Pusing punya pusing semua jalan penuh. Jalan dak pernah upgrade. Mau
harap fly over? Mimpi barang kali. Agaknya mengumpul kereta banyak-banyak nih
dah jadi satu hobi masa lapang bagi penduduk Tawau. Fuhh.. Lagi lima tahun aku
rasa Tawau nih hanya penuh dengan kereta. Dorang ni penah pikir ka minyak akan
habis dalam kurang dari 20 tahun lagi? Dakpa.. Dorang kaya.. Apa gua kesah bro?
Nanti aku tolong ketawa la kalau kereta dorang nih hanya layak jadi tukun tiruan.

Kemeriahan Festival Kebudayaan Tawau BIMP-EAGA makin terasa hangatnya.
Malam ini (15.01.2011) adalah hari yang bersejarah bagi Daerah Tawau dan warga
Tawau kerana dapat menyaksikan kepelbagaian budaya yang terdapat di Daerah Tawau,
Indonesia dan Brunei.

On with the topic, kali ni aku mahu berkongsi lagi kehangatan Festival
Kebudayaan Tawau 2011 yang berlangsung pada 14-15 Januari anjuran Majlis
Perbandaran Tawau. Satu festival yang berjaya pada hemat aku. Sudah heboh ke
serata dunia dengan bantuan alam siber dimana dunia wujud tanpa sempadan. Tidak
perlu passport ataupun pas lintas untuk ke negara lain.
Malam itu aku bersama-sama rakan TawauBloggers (Maya, Lisa, Agus, Don dan
Jeannie) berada live di tempat kejadian. Turut bersamaku beberapa rakan kamceng
sejak zaman sekolah. Turut bersamaku juga beberapa ahli keluarga. Turut bersama
juga…. ehm senang cerita hampir kesemua warga Tawau turun memeriahkan ok!
Kalau sudah namanya festival kebudayaan, sudah pasti kita akan lihat budaya.
Pakaian dan kostum juga merupakan sebahagian budaya. Jujur aku katakan, terdapat
beberapa pakaian etnik yang baru ku lihat pada malam tersebut. Itulah akibat
jika dari kecil hanya terdedah dengan fesyen grunge, punk, hip hop. Kalau
beruntung jadi baik pun, pakai baju Raihan seminggu sekali. Pakaian tradisi
sendiri haram tak kenal.
