Mobile Clinic Bus
The first 1Malaysia Mobile Clinic Bus Service in Sabah was launched in
Keningau on May 21, 2017, Sunday
Keningau District Health Office was selected to run the mobile clinic
bus service throughout Sabah.
The mobile clinic service was one of the products of 1Malaysia
introduced under the National Blue Ocean Strategy (NBOS) by the Prime
Minister in 2010.
Mobile Clinic Bus aims to improve access to health services that are
more comprehensive and expanding coverage to populations who are far
from the state health facilities.
Like other mobile clinics in Malaysia, it is a special customized bus to
provide basic medical services to rural areas with no or limited access
to medical facilities.
The mobile clinic programme is aimed at increasing health coverage to
the lower income communities in rural areas as well as to reduce the
rural-urban gap on accessibility to healthcare.
Mobile Clinic Bus offers :
1- Outpatient treatment;
2- Antenatal, postnatal, immunisation and family planning;
3- Preventive health checkups, health education and advice;
4- Follow up treatment for chronic diseases

Hill Top Specialist Hospital
A construction worker stumbled upon an old bomb, believed to be from the
World War II era, while clearing an area at the Hill Top Specialist Hospital
construction site in Tawau on 23 JUNE 2014 about 1.45pm
The workers were curious on discovering the object and tried to scrape the
surface but later realized that it was a bomb and immediately called the police.
The police arrived to inspect the bomb and made preparation to cordon off the
area so that the bomb could be detonated safely. The bomb was detonated by the
police bomb unit at 4.45pm yesterday.
According to the police, this is the first such bomb found in Tawau and they
believed there could still be many bombs around that have yet to be discovered.
Tawau police chief ACP Awang Besar Dullah said the worker found the bomb at
1.45pm and showed it to the site manager who later alerted the police. The
13-inch bomb has a shape of a bullet with 21-inch diameter and weighs about 30
kilogramme, he said in a statement on 24 June 2014.
The bomb was safely detonated by a bomb disposal squad at 4.38 pm.
A fish pond is being built at the open space where the bome found. This pond
would turn into a recreation park catering to patients receiving treatment at
the specialist medical centre.

no medical officer.
A medical doctor Ernst Sternfeld was sent from Sandakan to Tawau between
1939-1940 for only a few months.

Police Head Quarter of Tawau is just beside the hospital.
The old post office and central pardang is 5 minutes walk from General Hospital.
