Initiated in 1997, the programme is the first of its kind in Malaysia. This programme aims to equip graduates with the knowledge and professional training required for those pursuing a career in early childhood education.

DIPLOMA IN EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION OFFER BY OUM

Children Learning and Development have been the focus of the Early Childhood Education (ECE). ECE provides the basic education and prepares children for primary school education. The ECE programme at OUM will contribute to the all-rounded development of ECE teachers by updating their knowledge, skills and attitude as ECE professionals. The programme is tailor-designed for Early Childhood teachers to ensure that they have the necessary and enriched knowledge about child development and assessment, curriculum content, children arts and music, learning and pedagogy, health and safety, and ECE-center management skills.

Duration of Study

It takes 4 academic years (12 semesters) to complete the programme. The maximum duration for completion is 7 academic years (21 semesters).


Fees

Fees is RM 85* per credit hour. The total amount that a student needs to pay will depend on the number of credit hours registered for a particular semester. Total fees for 4 years (12 semesters)  are RM 10,215.

Entry requirements are:

> Passed Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia

(Malaysian Certificate of Education) or SPMV with three (3) credits.
