|OUMís Master of English Studies (MES) is a unique
interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary program that combines
studies in language and cultural production such as literary and
filmic texts to promote a more focused and holistic understanding of
English as an intellectual discipline.
Keeping true to the expansive spirit of English, MES engages with and draws from such fields as film studies, visual culture, area studies, philosophy, and political theory to provide learners with opportunities to acquire a wide range of advanced subject knowledge, subject-specific skills, and generic and transferable skills.
The MES curriculum features such exciting courses as Visual Culture, Cultural Studies, Film and Society in Contemporary Southeast Asia, Philosophy of Literature, Critical Theory, and World Literature.
The objectives of MES are to:
- advance learnersí knowledge, skills, understanding and appreciation of English as an evolving and versatile discipline
- provide a basis for further study in English or related disciplines at all levels.
