Higher Education in Malaysia  →  Private Colleges  →  IPG

Institut Perkim-Goon  IPG
Established in 1981

Established in 1981, the College received her first 157 students at the Main Campus at 239 Jalan Burma, Penang.  From that early beginning, the student population has grown to 3,200 and the premises have expanded to two other annexes, located within a kilometer from the main campus.

Institut Perkim-Goon ( IPG ), is the vision of the late YTM Tunku Abdul Rahman Al-Haj Putra, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia and the late Dr K L Goon, the founder of Goon Institution, to provide quality and affordable education for Malaysians. The last six years have seen IPG growing at a gradual but consistent rate.  This, of course, is partly due to its committed and dedicated staff and also the visionary leadership provided by its President, Dato' Professor Mohd Shukri Ab. Yajid.  In support of this growth, the College has an academic strength of 135 full and part-time lecturers. Of late, IPG has also seen an increase in international students from as far east as Japan, Korea, China to Indonesia, Brunei, Myanmar, India, Pakistan, Oman and the Maldives, and as far west as Nigeria and Finland. These achievements have made IPG one of Malaysia's leading private colleges of higher education for Business and IT. The meritorious achievements of IPG's students in the local and international scenes are indications of the College's commitment towards providing affordable and quality education to all Malaysians.
