There are 4 Government Colleges in Sarawak
(not including 4 Teachers' Training Colleges)
1 Community College Kuching
2 Community College Betong Branch
3 Community College Santubong Branch
4 Community College Mas Gading
Other then the above four, 3 new community colleges will be built in Sarawak
following strong demand for graduates from such colleges from industries.
70 per cent of graduates from community colleges throughout Sarawak were
absorbed into the workforce within six months after graduation, while half of
the remaining 30 per cent became entrepreneurs.
The three planned community colleges are :
1- Sarikei
2- Sibu
3- site yet to be identified.
The proposed projects will commence latest by 2014 under the 10th Malaysia Plan
By 2012, Sarawak has produced a total of 1,154 graduates in various fields such
as Fashion Design, Electrical, Tourism, Architect Draftsman, Landscaping and
Information Technology.
The community colleges were running relevant courses to meet the demand for
skilled manpower from all the 12 National Key Economic Areas (NKEA), including
the tourism sector and the oil and gas industry.
