About Institut Teknologi Maklumat Nusantara (NIIT Kuching)
Institut Teknologi Maklumat Nusantara (IPTS Registration No: Q4P1026) or NIIT Kuching was founded in 1999 and is a government-approved institute of higher learning based in Kuching, Sarawak. Under the new management headed by Prof. Dr. Andrew Tiong, NIIT Kuching is in a state of rapid expansion. Institut Teknologi Maklumat Nusantara was set up under the franchise with NIIT, India to build skilled manpower pool for global industry requirements in the world of IT and to help meet IT industry’s human resource challenges. Today, the institute is part of a global organization which has grown to be amongst world’s leading talent development companies offering learning solutions to individuals, enterprises and institutions across 40 countries.
NIIT Kuching currently offers diploma programs in Information Technology, Accountancy, Business Management and Secretaryship. The courses are fully accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and recognized by the private and public sectors. In addition, the institute has formed a Research Team to guide candidates towards completion of their theses.
The core program of the institute is the Diploma in Information Technology, the only one of its kind in Sarawak, developed by NIIT, India, a well renowned academic development center and a leading Global Talent Development Corporation. NIIT India was invited by the then Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr. Mahathir to expand its expertise in Malaysia.
Currently, NIIT Kuching has developed more programs fully accredited by MQA such as Diploma in Accounting, Business Management, and Secretaryship. It is also an accredited center for Edexcel UK. More than 500 students have graduated from the NIIT Kuching and records show that all the graduates have obtained employment in both the private and public sectors.
In order to prepare the students for the challenging world of today, the academic board of the institute provides preparatory courses in English and Mathematics to ensure that all students meet the minimum standards to take on the courses at tertiary levels. All lecturers are approved by the Ministry of Education. The academic board comprises of individuals qualified at postgraduate levels and having extended experience in the development of human capital.
