2019 Haze: API reading in Tawau districts rises to unhealthy levels

The air quality in two districts in Sabah - Tawau and Sandakan - reached unhealthy levels on Sunday Sept 15, 2019

According to the Environment Department's website, the Air Pollutant Index (API) readings in Tawau and Sandakan worsened since Saturday (Sept 14).

From the index chart at http://apims.doe.gov.my/,  the highest API reading in Tawau was at 153 while the highest reading for Sandakan was at 118.

As at 4pm on Sunday, the API for Tawau was recorded at 123 (unhealthy) while Sandakan was at 94, which is at a moderate level.
 

2015 : Sabah schools told to monitor haze situation
September 15, 2015, Tuesday

Sabah State Education Department director Datuk Jame Alip has instructed schools and district education offices in Sabah to keep abreast of the haze situation and to abide by instructions given by the Health Department.

2006 : Tawau Haze Worsens
The Tawau haze is worsening with the Air Pollution Index (API) reaching an unhealthy level of 132 on 3rd October 2006, more than double from 2nd October 2006's 53. Kota Kinabalu, Keningau and Sandakan recorded moderate readings, with 76, 71 and 65 respectively on 3rd October 2006
