Likas Bay Park

The Likas Bay Park, which is set to be the venue for the Borneo Orchid Show in September 2009, was opened to the public in December 2008

Work on the RM3.7mil park began in June 2007 funded by the National Landscape Department.

The Likas Bay Park boasts of comfortable pedestrian pathways, children’s playground, fitness station, gazebos and a plaza. It’s design will also facilitate the annual Sabah Dragon Boat Race.

The RM 3.7 million Taman Likas Public Park opened to the public in December 2008. The 7.6 acres park  stretches along the beach at Tun Fuad Stephens Road of  Likas Bay. This popular new park is complete with amenities such as public toilets and car parks.

Litterbugs will be RM500 poorer if caught littering at the newly completed Taman Likas Public Park.

The newly completed park has added to the beauty of Likas Bay and complemented other landscape developments in the city such as Ujana Rimba Tropika Park at Jalan Penampang, Lintasan Deasoka Pocket Park and Segama Waterfront Pocket Park.

Costing RM4 million to build, the park covers an area of 7.6 hectares. It comprises a main plaza, pedestrian walk, bicycle paths, fitness stations, benches, gazebos and a children’s playground.

Another pocket park is planned to be built around Warisan Square, Centre Point and Api-Api as part of the City Hall’s on-going beautification programme.

The Taman Likas Public Park is frequented by picnickers especially on weekends and public holidays.

Likas Bay is also a resting place for waterbirds or migrants waders
