Sabah parks are now smoke-free zones
Smoking is now banned in public parks in Sabah.
Public parks in Sabah was gazetted as no-smoking zones on Feb 1, 2017.
Beginning June 1 2017, full enforcement was implemented, whereby offenders can
be fined up to RM 10,000 or imprisoned not exceeding two years if convicted.
Smoking in public parks is no longer allowed when the Control of Tobacco Product
(Amendment) Regulations 2017 came into force on Feb 1, 2017
Smoking is also banned in :
1- air-conditioned food outlets,
2- open air public transport stops
3- stadiums.
Public parks means any open area for the purposes of leisure and recreational
containing soft or hard landscapes, or both, such as pedestrian paths, playing
fields, game courts and playgrounds except an open public car park. The National
Health Morbidity Survey (NHMS) in 2015 found that the prevalence of smoking was
22.8 per cent among Malaysians, while Sabah recorded the highest percentage of
smokers with 28.4 per cent.

reserve
Madai is basically a bird cave where the popular bird nest delicacy originates,
while the Baturong Cave is riddled with several caverns containing ancient
coffins.

The forest recreation centre, located strategically along the Lahad Datu-Tawau
Highway, serves as an important rest-stop for long-haul travelers.
The surrounding forest consists of various forest types; MDF, limestone
vegetation and ultramafic vegetation. This interesting combination of various
forest types can be exploited to educate locals on forest conservation. An
well-managed environment education programme can be established for this
purpose.
