天堂圍村是祖母彭蓮英 (1889-1979)的原鄉. 1910那一年祖母21歲時便離開天堂圍村,遠渡至南洋的婆羅洲島嫁給素未謀面的祖父. 此後祖母的一生中只在1928年回鄉過一次. 1928年回祖國家鄉探親時祖母已經出嫁18年了.在這18年裡她已經生齊了6個子女.

回鄉必須要有旅行證件, 這張1928年相片就是為了辦全家護照拍的. 也成了全家人的第一張合家照. 地點是亜庇水塘路的橡膠園山芭. 亜庇是今天的馬來西亞Kota Kinabalu City.

1928年天堂圍火車站

1928年祖父母帶著家屬首次回鄉探親. 正好同一年, 瑞士攝影師Weissenbruch, Arnold (Mr)拍下一張天堂圍火車站照片. 無意間為祖父母一家留下當年回鄉時的一面當時鄉景.

April, 2007, I searched Google, Yahoo and Baidu hoping to get some history of "Thien Thong 天堂圍" during the early 1900. The search result return almost nothing about this village. But the search point to many newly established industries in Thien Tong Village. There is a Thien Thong Industrial Park here.

I hope the location of industrial development is not on spot of where my grandmother once lived. And hope that by the time I visit this village :
1) The railway station to this Thien Tong Village was completed in 1911. (Just a few years before she left China to Jesselton)
2) There is a small lake near the railway station.
3) Today population : original villagers are only 2,500 but with 30,000 immigrants from all parts of China.
4) Today the railway station is no more in service (Though trains still pass by non stop). Many squatters beside the rail road.
5) Original villagers speak Hakka (This is a great news. This help confirm this is the village of Grandma).
6) So far no history, no religious events, no cultural events referring to this village. An unknown village even to the Chinese themselves.
7) But the village is well know as location of Thien Tong Industrial Park, batter know by many country side young people for its factories employment here.

In 2024, I searched Google and Baidu (no more Yahoo) again on "Thien Thong 天堂圍" and this time the search return a wealth of information. And I planned to pay a visit within one year.

天堂圍村區域之內，雖然天堂圍火車站已無列車停靠和旅客上落，但由於鐵路週邊出租屋較多，治安狀況比較複雜
由於天堂圍一帶情況較複雜，該鎮也集中清理整治鐵路沿線週邊的出租屋、窩棚，並對橋樑、隧道、涵洞等複雜部位進行了巡邏守護。

天堂圍, 常住人口只有2500多人，但外來人口卻超過了3萬。
