Handsome Fungus Beetles - Endomychidae

The beetles of the family Endomychidae are similar to the ladybugs. An endomychid can be distinguished by the fact that its head is not hooded by the thorax as is the case in the Coccinellidae. The Endomychidae are shiny, smooth-bodied, and frequently brightly colored. They are found under the bark of trees, in rotting fruit, and in fungi. They feed primarily on mold and fungi.
