Club, established in 1996, is a proud part of Toastmasters International—a
worldwide movement dedicated to building confident speakers and leaders. Meeting
every 2nd and 4th Tuesday at 7:30 PM in Tawau Town, the club welcomes people
from all walks of life to join a supportive and inspiring environment. Here,
members learn to overcome the fear of public speaking, sharpen their
communication skills, and grow as leaders. Open to everyone, the Tawau
Toastmasters Club continues to empower individuals while enriching the community
spirit of Tawau.

Mission & Purpose
The Tawau Toastmasters Club is part of
Toastmasters International, a global nonprofit organization that
empowers people to become more confident communicators and leaders. The club’s
mission is to provide a supportive and positive learning environment
where members can:

Current Leadership Roles
The club is guided by a dedicated team of officers who
rotate annually:
- President – Provides overall
leadership and represents the club in District 87 events.
- Vice President Education (VPE) –
Plans meeting agendas, assigns speech slots, and tracks member progress.
- Vice President Membership (VPM) –
Welcomes guests, manages recruitment, and supports new members.
- Vice President Public Relations (VPPR)
– Promotes the club through social media and community outreach.
- Secretary – Maintains records,
minutes, and correspondence.
- Treasurer – Manages club finances
and membership dues.
- Sergeant-at-Arms (SAA) – Prepares
the meeting venue and ensures smooth logistics.
Current Projects & Activities
- Regular Meetings (2nd & 4th Tuesday, 7:30 PM)
– Members deliver prepared speeches, practice impromptu speaking, and
receive constructive evaluations.
- Speech Contests – Annual events
where members compete in categories such as International Speech, Table
Topics, and Humorous Speech. Winners advance to Area and Division levels.
- Leadership Development – Members
take on meeting roles (Toastmaster of the Evening, Evaluator, Timer, etc.)
to build confidence and organizational skills.
- Community Outreach – Collaborations
with schools, NGOs, and cultural groups to promote communication and
leadership among youth and professionals.
- Special Events – Installation
ceremonies, anniversary celebrations, and joint meetings with other clubs in
Sabah.
- Training Workshops – Participation
in District 87’s Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI),
which equips members with advanced skills.
