A columbarium is a structure or building designed to store the cremated remains of the deceased. The ashes are typically placed in urns, which are then housed in niches within the columbarium. These buildings may be located in cemeteries, temples, or memorial parks and often serve as sacred spaces for remembrance and prayer.
