Comparision between this female Gea spinipes with a female ?

Both are common spiders in Borneo Island

The genus Gea (family Araneidae) is closely related to Argiope (often called St Andrew's Cross).

Gea Females can reach up to 11mm while Argiope Females can reach 26mm

Both are  easy to spot and photographed.

When disturbed, Gea often drop to the ground less then one meter below and remain still till the danger is over. It return to its web in speed via its own fastened silk

Their webs are less then one meter from the ground, often decorated with stabilimenta.

PRAWN FARM PRAWN FARM

A newly prawn farm in Merotai, 50 kilometres from Tawau town. Started farming in 2013. Before this area was prawn farm, the area has since a primary swarm forest untouched by human and where a small family of about 10 Proposis monkeys roamed around.

Because the farmers do not hunt the Proposis monkeys, this rear spices of monkey still hang around the area after developed into a prawn farm.
