The eight eyes of Hamataliwa sp

Eight eyes in total :
1- a pair of two large eyes in front
2- a smaller pair below.
3- a pair of medium-sized eyes up on the side
4- another pair of large eyes
looks above and backward.
This combination of eyes
gives these spiders an almost 360o view.
FOODS
This
female Hamataliwa spider was found hunting for small back bees on one
of the bee box similar to this one at left.
Hamataliwa spiders do not build webs. They are active hunters ambush
their prey. They use their eyesight to detect prey, but also react
to vibrations.
