Sime Darby Property Bhd is building Malaysia's first multi-varsity education
hub.
The hub is build in Pagoh, Johor, housing four institutions of higher learning:
1- Universiti Teknologi Malaysia
2- International Islamic University Malaysia
3- Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia
4- Politeknik Pagoh
All four institutions would share facilities such as a library, convention
centre, multi-purpose hall, sports complex, data centre as well as sustainable
features.
The hub is a vital part of the new Bandar Universiti Pagoh township.
The project would be implemented in several phases.
This RM1 billion Pagoh Higher Education Hub project propels development in
Northern Johor.
The first phase of the project started in 2013.
The 202 hectare development have three universities, a polytechnic and secondary
school, and would balance the growth in Johor south, which includes Iskandar
Malaysia and the oil and gas hub in Pengerang, Kota Tinggi.
The first university in Pagoh expected to open next year in 2015.
The development of this hub is in line with Malaysia's Higher Education
Strategic Plan to revolutionize and develop the higher education sector.
Malaysian Government is committed to ensuring that every Malaysian regardless of
race, religion and social background have the opportunity to enjoy a good
quality and perfect education.
This hub plays an important role as an education corridor between the Education
Cluster at the Vision Valley Malaysia under Greater KL in the north and EduCity
in Nusajaya, Iskandar in the south.
Sime Darby was given the responsibility to build the Bandar Universiti Pagoh
township creating some 25,000 new job opportunities.
