beverage as well as entertainment.

Suria Sabah is second part of Suria Company's project to turn Kota Kinabalu
seaside into tourist waterfront. The first part is the completed Jesselton
Point.
Suriah Sabah is a modern development in the older part of Kota Kinabalu city
centre. As a result of this catalyst for revival/redevelopment, the surround old
buildings will also be upgraded. Such building as the adjacent Gaya Centre which
has a plan to be converted into a hotel.

Abdul Rahman Parks. Suria Sabah is across the road from Tong Hing Supermarket

This city center is still rapidly growing and evolving with newer buildings
and hotels. As our honorable Mayor, Datuk Abidin Madingkir once complimented
that Suria Sabah which came into Kota Kinabalu city center picture 6 years ago
as timely, in tandem with Kota Kinabalu city center’s rapid progress, and is
just what Kota Kinabalu city needs to serve the city dwellers, outstation
Sabahan and tourists alike. We are honored that our Lord Mayor further commented
that Suria Sabah is Kota Kinabalu’s landmark Shopping Mall.
On top of the above, Kota Kinabalu is positioned as the hub of Borneo (even
surpassing Brunei and Miri), much like Kuala Lumpur’s as the hub of West
Malaysia.
This means that it receives a lot of outstation tourists’ shopping receipts from
Brunei, Miri, and smaller towns such as Sandakan, Tawau, Kudat, Lahad Datu,
Marudu…
Since Suria Sabah is located in between the islands and the main city stretch
where most hotels are located, many of these tourists walk through Suria Sabah
mall on a daily basis.
In the basement is where you’ll find most of Suria Sabah’s fast food restaurants
and “sushi corner”, with 3 Japanese restaurants within sight of each other.
There’s a Thai and Italian restaurant on the one of the 3rd floor, and a food
court on the other end of the same floor and few kiosks and misc food shops
scattered on the floors in between.
Metro Jaya is Suria’s anchor tenant, spanning several floors it sells the usual
department store offerings like perfume, clothes, shoes, luggage and household
items. Numerous other shops sell either beauty products or clothing and are
randomly dotted throughout the mall.
Suria Sabah Shopping Mall is making a push to rob Karamunsing of their “Best for
IT” title, but although there are many gadget shops already, the quality and
variety is still lagging behind Karamunsing.
The Times bookstore is not to be forgotten, nor is GSC Cinemas, which
significantly boosted the visitor numbers at the mall.
When it opened a couple of years after 1Borneo, GSC Suria brought 8 new screens
to Kota Kinabalu’s city centre and now feature two 3D ready cinemas at this
complex alone.
Suria Sabah has plenty of parking, and now that 2 exits with several gates each
are frequently operational, combined with automated ticketing machines, the
dreaded traffic crawl has been reduced.
