Kg. Serudung Baru, Balung
The villagers in Kg. Serudung Baru were originated from Kg. Ulu Serudong,
Kalabakan.
In 1964, the villagers were shifted to the present Serudung Baru Scheme via
helicopter because the old village was hard to reach by land.
The settlers involved in this resettlement are mostly of the Murut and other
ethnics like Iban and Suluk.
Hill paddy cultivation and fruit farming were the only agriculture activities
carried out there at that time in 1964
In 1968, SLDB has taken over the agriculture activity and started oil palm
cultivation for commercial.
In November 2002, SLDB has introduced a leasing concept which received a
positive response with the participation of 82% and a total area of 415ha.
