Kolo mee is noodles blanched in boiling water, mixed with some pork oil and fried shallot/garlic oil and topped with minced meat and barbequed pork.

 

The difference between Sarawak Kolo Mee and West Malaysian Kolo Mee is West Malaysia use use dark soy sauce to add flavour.

 

A good bowl of Kolo Mee is nice and smooth and very fragrant from the various oils used.

But one thing about the barbequed pork on the Kolo Mee. These dry "barbequed" pork are never barbequed.

Chinese New Year Bazaar

 

Kenyalang Park is abuzz with hundreds of shoppers every night for its famous Annual Chinese New Year (CNY) Bazaar.

2013, the Year of the Water Snake there are  200 over stalls offering festive goodies such as cookies, snacks, preserved fruits and Sarawak kek lapis.

The bazaar is also a good place to find decorative items for the Lunar New Year such as big red lanterns as well as snake-themed decorations.

As parking spaces are limited, shoppers can be seeing driving round and round looking for parking spaces, while others resorted to parking their vehicles illegally by the roadside.

The bazaar will run for two weeks until Saturday (February  9, 2013), which was the eve of the Lunar New Year.
