Timur Dancers in Tawau Cultural Festival 24-25 March 2007

Music and dance  is part of every day life on the islands of the Timur People.  And they brought with them their music and dance when they migrate to Sabah, the eastern part of Malaysia.

In the plantations where they live you can hear wonderful traditional singing and chanting as they harvest the crops, as they stroll along the country roads.  Old people, young people, children - all sing. They have songs for every occasion – accompanied by traditional drums and gongs, or  by guitars.

Here in the annual events of Tawau Cultural Carnival,  Timor  people are happy to share their culture with you --their traditional dances for social and and for ritual.
