Cyclosa bifida

Habitat
low shrubs

The web of a mature female can reach half a meter in width. It makes a small circular orb web in low shrub.

Spiders of the genus Cyclosa decorate their vertical orb-webs with a band of rubbish made of remains of insects bound in silk. The spider sits in the hub and appears to be a part of the debris, thereby camouflaging itself. The vertical orb-web is decorated by a vertical band of debris through the centre.

This genus also makes a marking in its web like the Argiope but instead of a cross it makes a circular marking.

Through the center of the snares, furnished with many radii and closely set spirals, often lies a stabilimentum consisting largely of the remains of insects and debris tied together with silk.

This large outgrows on the abdomen only appeared in tropical species.

The last two pair of legs are armed with three to four spines.

Legs with 3 claws and often furnished with strong spines and trichobothria on all segments except tarsi. Often legs are clearly annulated.

The eyes are arranged in 2 rows of 4 with the lateral eyes widely separated from the medial eyes.
The carapace is flat with a distinct raised head region.

The head is sharply set off from the thoracic region

Labium is wider than long and rebordered (swollen at anterior edge). Maxilla (basal part of palp used for chewing prey) are widest anteriorly.
