| Kolej TAFE Seremban (KTS) a
renowned leader in the field of
Technical Education, was built in
1988 by the Maju Institute of Educational
Development (MIED), the education arm
of MIC with the vision of its Chairman Dato'
Seri S Samy Vellu. The College, located on
a 10 acre site in Seremban/ was the first
technical IPTS to be awarded ISO 9002
as early as 1997. KTS has maintained
ISO 9001:2000 standards, UKAS (United
Kingdom Accreditation Services)
certification, and remains a member of
MAPCU (Malaysian Association of Private
Colleges and Universities ) since joining in
1998. Mission The mission of KTS is to contribute to our national prosperity by improving the skills of the people of Malaysia. This will be achieved through: • Developing leadership and innovation in educational development and services. • Promoting standards, which reflect best teaching and management practice. • Recognition of professionalism for students to meet those standards. • Demonstrating quality management practice in total administration, • Constant upgrading and development of courses provided and seeking local and external affiliation. |
| Academic Strengths The College maintains collaborative arrangements with Edexcel International, Liverpool John Moores University, AIMST (Asian Institute of Medicine, Science & Technology), City and Guilds and LCCI Board. The staff are highly qualified and experienced and most have Master's qualifications and at least 5 years of industry exposure. Some of the highly practical oriented and industry relevant courses are the Aircraft Maintenance, Electro Mechanical Engineering and Automotive Engineering Diploma courses. Programme Outline KTS's courses focus on training of manpower to meet the challenges of the growing economy and the era of globalization. Courses offered are Diploma and Certificate courses in Engineering, Business, IT and 2+1 Degree in Engineering. There are short courses for Electricians, Machinists, Turners, and so on approved by (JPK) Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran (MLVK), the National Skills Development Centre for MLVK courses in Wiring, Information Technology, Electronics, Mechatronics and Automotive as well as Computer Repair and Maintenance Technology. The automotive skilled programme is a T-TEP (TOYOTA TECHNICAL EDUCATION PROGRAMME) in partner-ship with Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan and UMW Toyota Motors Sdn Bhd. The Motorcycle Technicians Course and the NGV (Natural Gas for Vehicles) System Installer Course are critical courses. Other short courses include Basic 3D Modeling/ Design Techniques/ Assembly and Part Design, Advanced Surfacing/ CMC, PLC, Microsoft Office packages and Customized Short Courses in Automotive Mechanics (Service & Fault Diagnosis). Language classes for Japanese & Mandarin are also offered. The College also offers an approved Customized Short course in Automotive Fault Diagnosis and Troubleshooting and modules in Aircraft Maintenance such as Aircraft Materials, Maintenance Practices and General Engineering Workshop. |

The Counselling Department offers counselling sessions, motivational talks and study skills seminars. Job placement services are provided for students. Exclusive interviews are conducted by potential employers (such as MAS, Air Asia, Transmile, GE, BMW/ Tan Chong Motors, ON Semiconductors, Hualon, ALPS, National Semi Conductor, Megasteel, etc) at KTS's Career Fair in the College to provide students with a choice of jobs before graduation, Scholarship Loans and scholarships are available from PERKESO, KWSR KKR NLFCS and Commercial Banks, Students with SPM qualification are eligible for loans from PTPTN for LAN accredited courses of study. The 'Study Now Pay Later' (SNPL) scheme mooted by Dato' Seri S Samy Vellu, is available to all Malaysian Indian students for courses in KTS and will be granted only to eligible applicants. It covers tuition fees for the duration of the course. Students can apply for loans to cover a range of courses varying from Certificates to Diplomas. |
| Recognition 2006 was a landmark year in the history of KTS as most of the critical courses obtained accreditation from LAN (Lembaga Akreditasi Negara) and JPS (Jabatan Pendidikan Tinggi Swasta). Accreditation allows students to gain credit transfers into university courses. The courses are JPA (Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam) recognized which also means students con work in the government sector, Students can also continue their studies in AIMST. The courses are: • Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Technology • Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering • Diploma in Electro-Mechanical Engineering • Diploma in Information Technology • Diploma in Management • Diploma in Automotive Engineering • Certificate in Business Four other diploma courses have matured and are due for full accreditation in 2007 • Diploma in Civil Engineering,, Diploma in Accounting, Certificate in Engineering and Certificate in Computing. • In April 2007, the College signed an agreement for providing training on Engine Dynamometer. • In May 2007, another landmark MOA will be signed between AirAsia Berhad and TAFE to train AirAsia students on Aircraft Maintenance Modules. Graduates of the TAFE Aircraft Maintenance programme are sought after in the aircraft industry from organizations such as Transmile, GE, AirAsia and Malaysian Airlines. |
