Landslide at Zen Garden Resort The 2011 landslip destroyed some chalets at the Zen Garden Resort. The resort stopped operation for a period for fear of further landslide occurring and sending the rest of the structures precariously hanging from a collapsed slope tumbling downhill. |
| Landslide in Zen Garden Resorts, Kundasang Some 22 houses were damaged in a progressive landslide that occurred on 9th to 14th April, 2011in the Kundasang area, forcing 100 people from 36 families to evacuate their homes. The landslide also destroyed some of the chalets at the Zen Garden Resort, which stopped operation for a period for fear of further landslide occurring and sending the rest of the structures precariously hanging from a collapsed slope tumbling downhill. The entire district of Kundasang is exposed to
minor earthquake tremors and continuous translational movement of
soils, which contribute to the frequent landslide in the area. Slopes in Kundasang are divided into eight geological sectors based on its soil movements, registered an average of 0.5 meters in translational soil movement a year.
