Event Management

The MICE and events industry has experienced tremendous growth in the past decades. This industry has also contributed considerable economic and socio-cultural benefits. Because of this, many destinations have made substantial investments in infrastructure development and promotional activities to attract this market segment. As a result, employment opportunities exist in corporations, associations, hotels and resorts, convention centers and event management companies.

This programme is designed to provide a practical overview of the function, skills and knowledge required to plan, organize, manage, promote, and evaluate a festival, convention, trade show, or special event. By use of lectures, fieldwork, case studies and practical applications, students will gain insight into management and operations in this dynamic field. In addition to its core courses, students will gain experience in computer application, accounting, marketing and business communications. Graduates will have a well-rounded exposure to the industry that will increase their employability.

Graduates may find employment in hotels, resorts, PR and Event Management companies and convention centers. They may work as Events Executive, Convention Sales Executive, Marketing Executive and PR Executive in the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) industry, Events Coordinator, PR Assistant and Club Coordinator.

Tourism

The tourism industry in Malaysia is one of the fastest growing industries with significant contributions to the national economy. As this sector grows, there will be a greater emphasis and commitment to expand and improve tourism products and services.

The programme will involve students in the context of the travel-related business, such as marketing, foreign languages, and convention and meeting management. Special emphasis is placed on the development of interpersonal, communication and critical thinking skills. Graduates may find employment in travel agencies, tourist attractions, resorts, hotels.

This programme will provide students with a critical understanding of the foodservice sector and the issues, which underpin consumer choice. Theory and practical are integrated throughout the programme. Graduates may find employment not only in restaurants, hotels and resorts but also in other sectors of the service industry like hospitals and hotels throughout the country.

Multimedia Design

Students will develop an awareness of professional practice, design skills and the work of other new media professionals in addition to web design, multimedia applications, and creative graphics, utilizing Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Dreamweawer, 3D Studio Max, Adobe Flash, Apple Final Cut Pro, and Adobe After Effects, in addition to other digital imaging, animation, digital video editing, and motion graphic tools.
Graduates may secure jobs as Designer and Assistant Designer, Multimedia Designer, Web Designer, Animator, Game Designer, Interface and Instructional Designer.
