Arifin was replying to Bongawan Assemblyman Mohamad bin Alamin during question time at the State Assembly.

He said they are currently monitoring the deviant activities of 'Harun Mat Saat Group' or known as 'Tuhan Harun' in connection with cheating through collecting donations for orphanages which has yet to be detected, so far.

In regards to Syiah teachings, Arifin said they found out that several people are believed linked to the Syiah, based on their investigation, although no Muslims have admitted to be Syiah followers.

"Those Muslims found to be involved in deviant teachings can be charged under Section 52 of the Syariah Criminal Offence Enactment No.3 1995 with a maximum fine of RM5,000 or a jail up to three years' or both upon, conviction," he said.

To ensure the Muslims are not influenced by deviant groups especially Syiah, Arifin said the Government through Jheains, State Mufti Office, Jakim and Home Ministry will organise seminars on the threat of deviant groups.
