Sarawak already had 22 hospitals in its cities and major towns, 266 clinics in the suburban and rural areas, and seven 1Malaysia clinics statewide.

It also has many mobile medical and dental riverine and land units for more interior areas.

Its weekly Flying Doctor Service serves those in 141 very isolated locations

In July 2012, a three-day "Nursing and Allied Health Conference 2012: Evidence and Practice" organized jointly by the state Health Department, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) and seven other organizations was attended Some 1,250 health care professionals, including doctors and nurses, and about 200 foreign experts

The conference was held with the aim to allow local and foreign healthcare experts to meet, discuss and share their knowledge and experiences. It also aimed at giving them the opportunity to learn the latest developments in healthcare-related fields.
