Key outcomes of the EPP

   
• Increase Fresh Fruit Export :
A) Papaya- 63,855 mt [355 ha] @ 7 years
B) Jackfruit- 12,237.5 mt [725 ha] @ 5 years
• Future opportunity for pineapple, star fruit and banana
• Job opportunity: 3,184 people [until 2020]
• To Develop new local agropreneur: 66
• Generate Revenue for the State Government through land rental- RM3,538,000 .00 until 2020
   
 

What needs to be done?

 
  • Need funding for basic infrastructure (road, water supply and electricity) need to be construced in order for the TKPM to be implement.
• The anchor company should be able to export the farm produce directly to the importing country/ client through Sabah Port [Sandakan] – to shorten the travelling time rather than through Port Klang.
 
 

Key Challenges

 
  • Illegal squatters
• No basic infrastructure
 
   

Mitigation Plan

    • District Officer could issue Eviction Notice to the illegal squatter with the assistance from the Land & Survey Department ,Police , District Surveyor and District Council [Enforcement Officer]
• To construct access road from Sandakan- Lahad Datu Highway to the TKPM site.
• To provide water supply and reservoir [pond] for water collection.
• To provide power connection [SESB] and standby generator.

1 - TKPM MANDALIP AU (517 HA)

Background Of The Project TKPM Mandalipau, Papar.
• The site is situated 25 km from Papar Town.
• Overall area = 517 hectares
• Acreage developed = 517 hectares (3 Phase)
• Gazette for TKPM = year 2006; GN 78-2006
• In 2009 listed under the Sabah Development Corridors (SDC).
• Current status- The final report on Design Plan (Preliminary Report) done by SABA Perunding S/B costing RM860,580.00 > SDC

2 - TKPM SG. LOKAN (700 HA)

Background Of The Project TKPM Sg. Lokan
• The site is situated 80 km from the Kinabatangan District , Sandakan City.
• Overall area = 732.48 hectares
• 1st Phase Develop = 400 hectares
• 2nd. Phase Develop = 300 hectares
• Gazette for TKPM = year 2005; GN 345-2005
• In 2009 listed under the Sabah Development Corridors (SDC).
• Current Status- The final report on Design Plan (Preliminary Report) done by PY Konsep Perunding costing RM389,120.00 > SDC

3 - TKPM SG. KOYAH (80 HA)

Background Of The Project TKPM Sg. Koyah
• The site is situated 52 km from the Kinabatangan District, Lahad Datu town
• Overall area = 80 hectares
• Acreage developed = 80 hectares
• Gazette for TKPM = year 2004; GN 47-2004
• In 2009 listed under the Sabah Development Corridors (SDC).
• Current status- The final report on Design Plan (Preliminary Report) done by SARG Konsult S/B costing RM308,600.00 > SDC


• Categorized under EPP 7 [Fruit & Vegetable]
• To alienate land permanently for tropical fruits production.
• To give opportunity for private sector to be involved in fruits production
• To give opportunity for local agropreneur to be involved in food crops production.
• Anchor Vendor Concept.
• Strengths of the Food crops sector:
- Food security
- BOT, Import vegetable & fruits higher than export
- Food crisis
- Geographical location of Sabah closer to Taiwan, Japan, Brunei (EAGA) and Korea
- Sabah still lacking in food crops agropreneur
- High demand of tropical fruits overseas
• Production: Low vegetable & fruits exported, ( 1,487 mt /RM3.8 million (statistic 2008)
• Distribution : Project focus to east coast Sabah (Div. Sandakan and Tawau), to softened the effect of vast expansion of Palm oil plantation (estimated acreage of palm oil plantation is over 93% cultivated on arable, suitable and fertile agri land (Agri statistics bulletin 2007.
