Male and female Ceriagrion cerinorubellum

This is Ceriagrion cerinorubellum male. It is commonly found in all the places with plenty of males and females. The eyes are green , and the body & the abdominal tip are orange red in color. Females are not brightly colored as the males. At the time of reproduction , these come in a flock near the ponds for mating. They are seen through out the year.


The males arrive early in morning and perch on the tip of the vegetation beside the stream waiting for the females. The females come after the sun rise and aggregate near the open stream at the time of reproduction.


Ceriagrion cerinorubellum (Brauer, 1865) 彩虹細蟌 is the most colorful damselfly in Borneo. The males are brightly colored, orange at the anterior end and the tip of the abdomen. This damselfly is common in Sabah region, and males are found in very good number.

In the early morning breeze, drops of morning dew still linger atop her thorax and wings. Wonderful moment of mother nature.
 

This damselfly species, Ceriagrion cerinorubellum, is common. It can be found around the edges of man-made lakes or ponds.
Ceriagrion cerinorubellum is found in very good number dominated by males. The males are brightly coloured, orange at the anterior end and the tip of the abdomen.
